Franklin Skates!

Please join us for Franklin Skates! Franklin students and their families are invited to Olympic Skate Center in Port Angeles to skate with fellow students on Thursday, Nov. 11th. Because of our large student population and also safety concerns, Kindergarteners through Third Graders can skate from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A skating session for Fourth through Sixth Graders will occur from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. also on Thursday, Nov. 11th.

Remember, there is no school on Thursday, Nov. 11th due to the Veterans Day Holiday and no school on Friday Nov. 12th due to teacher conferences. So please come out and join the fun!

Cost is $5 per student per session, which includes skates. This is a discounted rate and is also a fundraiser for Franklin’s Parent-Teacher Association. Snacks and other concession items cost extra. Sorry, but no free passes accepted for this already discounted event. Olympic Skate Center is located in central Port Angeles on 7th Street, just a block off Lincoln Street, near Rite Aid.

Your new executive board is really excited about this year…in addition to fundraising and traditional events at our school, we have lots of great ideas for new and fun family activities. Team Franklin would love to hear your ideas, too!

School Supplies List

On a recent trip to WalMart, I discovered that lo and behold…the school supply lists are out. Unfortunately, the Franklin spot was completely empty.

I, like many of you, may have vowed NOT to wait until the night before school starts to pick up supplies this year! So…here is the Franklin school supplies list in case you need it.

Good luck finding those glue sticks, and see you all on September 2nd.

Last Week of School Yearbook Sales

First of all…CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR GRADUATING 6TH GRADERS…good luck to all of you next year as junior high-schoolers.

For the rest of us, there are only 4 more days until summer break…and counting. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and turn into summer finally! Kelly Heim was able to order some extra yearbooks, and will set up a table outside the front entrance every day after school – until they are sold out. If you want to pick one up during the day, Teresa and Jan will have some available in the Franklin front office for sale.

Also, Beata Cole will be available to give information and help parents sign up for the E-scrip program after school this week. The E-scrip program gives 10% in September for all purchases (instead of the usual 1-4%) as a back-to-school bonus for schools. The more people who can sign up this summer, the better! The Franklin PTA really hopes to promote this program as the best way to raise money for our school with no additional strain on parents pocketbooks. Help us try to catch that extra FREE cash in September.

TEACHER LUNCHEON (Monday, April 19th) - Can you make a dish or volunteer? Contact Holly J at 460-3730.

CAR WASH (Tuesday, April 20th) - Volunteer to wash the cars of the staff! Contact Holly J at 460-3730.

SURPRISE THE STAFF - Have yourself or your student write a letter or draw a picture and give it to the staff member of your choice during the week. Try and surprise more than one staff member!!

Purchase these items for Staff Appreciation Week

PURCHASE AND GIVE ITEMS - Purchase any of these items in any quantity and drop them off at school to the secretaries by Apr. 19th. The supplies will be distributed evenly among the staff! These are some ideas, but anything will be loved by the staff!
